Mystery Language! Introduction to Linguistic Analysis

Ever wondered what linguists do? In this course, we will work with a speaker of a mystery language to give you a preview of how linguists analyze language. We will start by talking about some techniques that linguists use when beginning to explore a language. We will then apply these lessons by working with the speaker to try to identify the sounds of the language through learning words. After this, we will turn to sentences and begin to develop a basic understanding of how words and sentences are formed.  By the end of this course, you will come to see that linguistic analysis is a lot like working on a puzzle so get ready to put your problem-solving skills to the test!
