Receiving Credit for Summer Internships
Academic Internship Credit (SUMMER)
Students may apply to receive units (by enrolling in LINGUISTICS 199) for work done during summer internships that meet the following requirements:
- Internship has been approved by a Linguistics faculty member, who agrees to submit a final grade at the end of the summer term
- Internship is directly related to the field of Linguistics
- Complete the LINGUISTICS 199 petition with their faculty sponsor and indicate for which Summer Session (A,B,C, or D) they plan to enroll to receive units (Note: Students must enroll in Berkeley’s Summer Sessions to receive academic credit for their internship)
- Student has a minimum overall GPA of 2.0
- Student must be a declared Linguistics major before the beginning of the Summer term for which they want to enroll in Linguistics 199
International Students
There are different requirements for International students who wish to obtain work authorization using the academic credit option. We strongly advise that you consult an SISS advisor at the Berkeley International Office.
