Degree Requirements for the Major and Minor Programs

A new set of requirements was approved for the Major and Minor in Linguistics at UC Berkeley, effective Fall 2022. Students pursuing a Major or Minor in linguistics should pursue the course requirements in accordance with their year of matriculation.

Group 1: Continuing students, meaning those who matriculated (began study) at UCB prior to Fall 2022    (Note: Continuing students can choose to follow the new Fall 2022 requirements)
Group 2:  New students, meaning those who matriculate at UCB in Fall 2022 or later
